Shot Blasting & Scabbling
Shot Blasting
Shot blasting is a service that we provide in which steel shot is blasted against a surface where debris, dust, and the shot are all contained in our sealed collection systems hopper. The resulting area is dry and well-etched, ready for immediate coating. This method provides an excellent profile for maximum adhesion with all the popular finishes. If shot blasting is something you are interested in, you need to schedule it for a period of time in which the surface being prepared is not wet. Shot blasting cannot be performed in rain or wet conditions.
Scabbling
Scabbling most commonly occurs when you need to roughen an area to apply new concrete, such as bridge deck overlays. Scabbling allows you to roughen up the existing concrete to create better bonds with the new concrete that is placed. You can also use scabbling when surface coatings and other deposits on concrete floors must be removed. It is common to remove anywhere from 1/32″ to 3/16″ of the thickness of the surface by scabbling using hand tools, walk behind machines, and large equipment mounted attachments. Specifically ACC contains 25 heads and can cover a surface area of 6 square feet and is mounted on to a large ride on machine. This allows for greater capacity and increased production. Greater productivity leads to cost savings for our customer.
